Troubleshooting & FAQ
“No API key for …”
Section titled ““No API key for …””The service you picked has no key yet. Click Set / Update key on the Transcribe tab and paste one — see Providers & API keys. The Service menu marks every service without a key as (no api key set).
The provider says my key is wrong
Section titled “The provider says my key is wrong”The log shows the provider’s own message. Check you saved the key under the right service (a Groq key won’t work for OpenAI), that it was copied whole, and that the account behind it is active — and, for OpenAI, has billing set up.
The file is too large for my provider
Section titled “The file is too large for my provider”VoxMark checks the file size before it uploads. Groq’s free tier and OpenAI stop at 25 MB, which a long WAV passes quickly. Export the voiceover as MP3 or M4A, which is far smaller, switch to AssemblyAI, which has no practical limit, or transcribe in sections. See Providers & API keys.
“Unsupported file type”
Section titled ““Unsupported file type””VoxMark takes WAV, AIFF, MP3, MP4, M4A, MOV, OGG, FLAC and WebM audio, and .srt subtitles.
Convert anything else to one of those first.
“A transcription is already running”
Section titled ““A transcription is already running””Only one transcription runs at a time. Wait for the first to finish — the line under Transcribe shows its progress, and the Log every step.
AssemblyAI is taking a long time
Section titled “AssemblyAI is taking a long time”Long recordings take a while, and AssemblyAI is checked every few seconds until it’s done. VoxMark gives up after three hours and logs the job id; the job may still finish on AssemblyAI’s side.
Two speakers came out as one
Section titled “Two speakers came out as one”Enter the number of speakers in Speakers (AssemblyAI) — an exact number or a range. Left on auto, similar voices can merge. You can also fix individual captions by assigning voices by hand.
I asked for Words but got one marker per phrase
Section titled “I asked for Words but got one marker per phrase”The model returned no word timings, so VoxMark fell back to phrases and said so in the log. On Groq, choose Whisper Large v3 Turbo for one marker per word.
The markers are a little early or late
Section titled “The markers are a little early or late”VoxMark corrects timing against the audio for WAV files — see How accurate is the timing? For other formats it keeps the provider’s timing. Use a WAV for the tightest markers, or nudge captions with the timing tools.
Imported markers are on the wrong frames
Section titled “Imported markers are on the wrong frames”If the SRT came from VoxMark and VoxMark offered to change your frame rate, say Yes so the scene matches the SRT. A plain SRT has no frame rate, so set your scene’s frame rate to match your edit before importing.
The button I want is greyed out
Section titled “The button I want is greyed out”- Un-solo first. While a solo has markers parked off the timeline, the actions that rewrite markers are paused — the status line says so. Click Un-solo.
- Restore needs markers stored by Save & Clear; Save & Clear needs VoxMark markers on the timeline; Rebuild needs markers; Create and Export SRT need a transcript.
Markers and transcript disagree
Section titled “Markers and transcript disagree”VoxMark warns when the number of markers no longer matches the saved transcript. Use Rebuild to take what’s on the timeline, or Create markers from transcript to resync the timeline. See Markers in Cinema 4D.
The transcript is missing
Section titled “The transcript is missing”- Is this the same scene, and did you save it after transcribing? The transcript lives inside
the
.c4d. - The markers are still on the timeline? Rebuild recovers the transcript from them.
- Replaced it by mistake? Undo it with Ctrl+Z, or find the previous version in
Chroma/VoxMark/replaced/beside your scene — see Where VoxMark keeps things.
The audio doesn’t play with the timeline
Section titled “The audio doesn’t play with the timeline”M4A, OGG, FLAC and WebM are transcribed but not attached — attach a WAV, AIFF or MP3 of the same voiceover for playback. If you moved the audio file, relink the Sound track on the VoxMark Audio null.
“VoxMark error — see the Console”
Section titled ““VoxMark error — see the Console””Something went wrong that VoxMark didn’t expect. Open Extensions ▸ Console, copy what VoxMark printed there, and send it with your support ticket.
Still stuck?
Section titled “Still stuck?”Open a support ticket from the VoxMark for Cinema 4D product page on aescripts.com — see Licensing & support. Copy the panel’s Log into your ticket; it shows exactly what happened.
